Taxed-off Ontarians invited to Queen’s Park Wednesday

Queen’s Park – Haldimand-Norfolk-Brant MPP Toby Barrett is inviting taxed-off families, brushed-off farmers and ticked-off small business owners to Queen’s Park tomorrow for a taxpayer rally.

The rally which will focus on ‘no more taxes, no more lies’ will give Ontarians an opportunity to show their disappointment with the Liberal government’s lying politicians as well as the most recent budget that featured the introduction of new taxes and tax hikes.

“I am receiving many calls in my constituency office whereby people are telling my staff that they won’t stand for further taxes and broken promises,” Barrett said. “These people are asking how they can get rid of Premier McGuinty and his colleagues – that’s downright sad considering the Liberals are only eight months into their mandate.”

Barrett continued by saying that people all across the province did not vote for the Liberals based on tax hikes, health premiums and the delisting of health services.

“This is not what taxpayers signed up for,” Barrett said. “Ontarians wanted change and that is now coming in Liberals changing their minds.”

On September 9, 2003, Dalton McGuinty signed a contract stating that he would, “not raise taxes or implement any new taxes without the explicit consent of Ontario voters.” Today, Mr. McGuinty’s support in the province stands at nine percent and the people of the province are asking for a referendum.

The taxpayer rally at Queen’s Park begins at 12 noon June 9th. For those who cannot attend the rally can have their say by picking up a petition from MPP Barrett’s office titled: ‘Petition to force Premier McGuinty to obey the Taxpayer Protection Law’.
