Another day, another two resignations at e-health
Queens Park – One day before an auditor general report on the scandal plagued e-health government agency, two Liberal appointees are getting out of Dodge!
Geoff Smith - former chair of the Ontario Liberal Fund - and Khalil Barsoum resigned from the eHealth board Tuesday. A PC caucus Freedom of Information (FOI) request on untendered contracts between the McGuinty government and Smith's business interests is due in early October.
“After months of revelations indicating millions of misspent taxpayer dollars, and executive firings, this smells of the same from this government,” Barrett stated. “it’s time for those in charge to take responsibility – given that Mr. McGuinty ducked six questions in a row from PC Leader Tim Hudak on why the two members quit the eHealth board, I don’t expect that happening any time soon.”
Barrett echoes Hudaks demand for government accountability on the e-health and OLG front.
"Taxpayers deserve answers. Dalton McGuinty must guarantee that his Liberal friends on the eHealth board did not benefit from untendered contracts,” Opposition Leader Tim Hudak said. “If that is not the reason they left, then why?"
Given the very public way the McGuinty Liberals fired the former CEO of OLG, it is curious why they are applying a double standard when it comes to the Liberal friends on the eHealth Ontario board.
