Barrett to Duguid: relocate Dave and Dana Brown

Queen’s Park – Local MPP Toby Barrett didn’t waste any time asking new Aboriginal Affairs Brad Duguid if he will immediately relocate Dave and Dana Brown.

“They’ve spent the last two-and-a-half years in hell, adjacent to DCE,” Barrett told the Ontario Legislature. “This family’s safety and their health have been at risk for far too long, and the community is very concerned for them.”

Barrett also asked what the Minister did to deserve this appointment and pointed out that former Aboriginal Affairs Minister Michael Bryant sat in the first row right next to the Speaker. Minister Duguid sits in the third row.

“What does this mean? Perhaps the Premier is taking the Minister back behind the sofa with him with respect to land disputes,” Barrett continued.

“You've had Caledonia for two and a half years, and now Brantford. This government has had Ipperwash for five years now and accomplished nothing, not even the promised legislation. There's nothing on the docket for this fall.”

In his conclusion Barrett invited Minister Duguid to Caledonia, Brantford, Dunnville, York and Hagersville.

“We don't need a new face, we don't necessarily need a new beginning; we need an end. Those involved in the crisis know little to nothing about Minister Duguid. We ask him to go out and make a name for himself.”
