Barrett backing Hudak

Queen's Park -- Tim Hudak has what it takes to become Leader of the Ontario PC Party, according to his colleague from Haldimand-Norfolk, Toby Barrett.

Today, Hudak, the MPP for Niagara-West-Glanbrook officially announced he would be vying for the title of Leader.

"We have a number of MPP's who could be a good Leader, but Tim has the experience, energy and enthusiasm to unite our Party," Barrett said following a news conference this morning. "He has the leadership skills to become Premier in 2011 and make us all feel good about Ontario again."

First elected in 1995, Tim has been a tireless and passionate MPP and cabinet minister both representing his constituents, and working hard to make Ontario a better place to do business. Barrett said he has spoken to a number of people in the riding who share his thoughts about Hudak.

“When the PC Party has offered a clear, honest, and conservative vision we’re rewarded by voters,” Hudak said. “This is because the conservative principles that unite and motivate us also reflect the values of Ontario families.”

"Tim’s background is economics – he weighs the pros and cons before making a decision which is important in these tough times," Barrett said. "Tim is a thorough and careful decision-maker and when he speaks, people listen. But most importantly when someone else speaks, Tim listens."

The leadership vote will take place June 27, 2009.
