Waterford Old Town Hall bolstered by ‘New’
Trillium dollars
Waterford – Restoration of the Waterford Old Town Hall has received
a $75,000 boost from the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
The Grand River Grant Review Team has approved the funding for improvements
aimed at creating a large performance and meeting space for local cultural
groups.
“I commend the Old Town Hall Association for their efforts in restoring
this majestic building that has long been the heart of the Waterford community,”
said Barrett. “This funding will go a long way in ensuring it continues
to serve the area for decades to come – I encourage everyone to
‘stop by’ and see this ‘work in progress’”
"Five years of hard work and fundraising by the volunteers and supporters
of the project has paid off,” said Teresa Sinkowski of the Old Town
Hall Association. “Qualifying for an Ontario Trillium Foundation
grant allows us to move forward and begin the restoration of the Old Town
Hall.”
The Ontario Trillium Foundation, an agency of the Ministry of Culture,
receives annually $100 million of government funding generated through
Ontario's charity casino initiative. OTF builds healthy and vibrant communities
throughout Ontario by strengthening the capacity of the volunteer sector,
through investment in community-based initiatives.
