Trillium
Fund ensures ‘all-hands-on-deck’ to promote Cottonwood Mansion
Selkirk— A $20,000 Ontario Trillium Grant will help ensure the long-term
viability of a Victorian-era Haldimand treasure - the Cottonwood Mansion.
The funding was approved
by the Grand River Grant Review Team December 10th, and will be used to
provide staff support for partnership development and marketing.
“This continued
support from the Ontario Trillium Foundation helps bolster the year-round
work of the Cottonwood Mansion Preservation Foundation in preserving and
maintaining this historic building near Selkirk,” said Barrett.
“I commend them for helping to ensure this vivid snapshot of bygone
eras will not fade with time.”
“The Board of
Trustees and Volunteers of Cottonwood Mansion are very appreciative to
The Ontario Trillium Foundation for their continued support,” Cottonwood
Manager Karen Cannon said. “This grant will help us to meet and
implement the recommendations set out in our business plan.”
The Ontario Trillium
Foundation, an agency of the Ministry of Culture, receives annually $100
million of government funding generated through Ontario’s charity
casino initiative. The Foundation allocates grants to eligible charitable
and not-for-profit organizations in the arts, culture, environment, human
and social services, and sports and recreation sectors.
