Ontario’s Agriculture Minister is pitting farm group against
farm group: Barrett
Queen’s Park - Ontario’s
Agriculture Minister is pitting farm group against farm group and crop
against crop, according to Haldimand-Norfolk-Brant MPP Toby Barrett.
“Why is it that you and
your government insist on playing favours and pitting farm group against
farm group?” Barrett asked Minister Peters during question period
today.
Peters refused to answer the
question but did say, “the Ontario Federation of Agriculture does
not support what is happening today” – referring to the Rural
Revolution tractor rally.
Earlier, Barrett was shouted
down by government members who would not allow a series of 11 resolutions
- handed to the Haldimand-Norfolk-Brant MPP by the Rural Revolutionaries
gathered outside Queens Park - to be read into the record.
“Speaker, on a point
of order, I rise to ask for unanimous consent to read the following resolutions
into the record,” Barrett said before being shut down. However,
Barrett and his P.C. colleagues successfully read the resolutions into
the Legislative record in the form of petitions.
