Moratorium on McGuinty green energy plans
Whereas, seven years of McGuinty energy experiments have seen electricity rates skyrocket 75 per cent - not including the additional 8 per cent HST; and
Whereas, McGuinty’s expensive electricity schemes – including the smart meter tax machine and backroom energy contracts – will soon force bills up another 46 per cent; and
Whereas, the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters estimate the family electricity bill is going up another $732 a year by 2015; and
Whereas, the massive rate subsidies being paid for green energy projects under McGuinty’s Green Energy Act can only drive electricity price increases further; and
Whereas, local decision making rights on green energy projects have been stripped away from municipalities – and impacted residents - by McGuinty’s Green Energy Act; and
Whereas, resolutions from 75 Ontario municipalities, and a vocal opposition, calling for moratoriums are being ignored;
Therefore be it resolved that we the undersigned call upon the Legislative Assembly of Ontario to place a:
Moratorium on McGuinty Green Energy plans - cease further costly energy contracts pending review and restore municipal decision making rights.
